Motor Neurone Disease

In 2020, our Treasurer, Jeanette Mizen,  was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease

This is a debilitating condition that leads to the sufferers ending up in a wheelchair and unable to speak.

On 14th September 2024, Barry Mizen and Stuart Sparkes will be doing the Thames Bridges Trek, for MNDA. This involves crossing 16 bridges, and is 25km long. You can donate to this by clicking here 

Your donations mean a lot and the typical way your money could be spent is:

  • £10 provides an information pack to someone newly diagnosed with MND
  • £30 buys an adapted cutlery set to help someone feed themselves
  • £100 funds laboratory equipment for two days vital research
  • £300 provides a basic level of respite care for one day
  • £550 funds a tablet computer to enable communication with loved ones.
  • £1000 will pay for a detailed DNA test to understand the causes of MND
  • £1500 funds a the installation of a stair left to gain access all over the house
