Runwell Hospital Bowls Club - About Us

The English Women’s Bowling Association
And the Essex County Bowling Association www.ecba.co.uk

We play Men’s Ladies and mixed Bowls matches in regulation grey and white bowls wear, no
fancy  colours, on a green of six rinks.
Our green will accommodate seven rinks if necessary.
The Green is maintained by the members themselves.
Such is the reputation for the quality of the bowling surface it is consistently booked as a neutral green
by finalists and semi-finalists of other clubs when playing County and District competitions

The club has a membership of 67, 20 Ladies, 47 Gentlemen and Country members. 
It is not supported financially by the Hospital Authorities. It is a self managing and self supporting
section of the Runwell Hospital Staff Social Club (www.runwellsportsclub.com) which has
its headquarters complex containing a Bar with refreshment  facilities,  Function Room and Snooker
Room,  just a few yards from our Bowling Green.

As well as Lawn Bowls there are other activities associated with the site such as Archery, Rugby and
Football, fielding seven teams - Men's, Ladies and Saturday morning under 11 year olds.
